My Project

My students are happy and curious! They are excited about our new after-school program. It's called Creation Station, and during these sessions, they have opportunities to explore and create using a wide variety of materials. They are always eager and engaged in their projects, but I have noticed that their energy is sometimes lacking and some have even mentioned being hungry. Asking my students' parents to provide snacks is out of the question. The fact that my students already have to provide their own transportation home in order to attend our meetings after school is already a giant hurdle. The majority of my students are from low-income households and with inflation and rising food costs, I feel like asking them to contribute snacks would lead to some students not being able to attend.

These snacks will energize my students and help them focus on their activities.

I have tried to select more nutritious snacks like the Planters nuts and the Cheez-It Baked Snack Crackers as opposed to chips and candy bars. I feel like all of the options included are more nutritious, yet are still appealing to my students. I am confident these snacks will satisfy their hunger without ruining their appetite for dinner and will enable them to get the most gain out of our time together.
