I have been able to make visual leaning aids to post around the room for the kids to look at and I have added a vocabulary wall. I just realized I didn't get a picture of it or of their notebooks. Every new vocabulary word they learn is printed on colorful paper and glued into their notebook. I also make copies of practice problems to do together on the paper. If they forget what a word is, I can say \"It is on blue paper\" and it helps them remember. \r\n\r\nSome of the paper was out of stock so I was able to get the Home Sweet Classroom sign as a replacement. It is perfect for our room. I want the kids to feel like our room is their home away from home. \r\n\r\nI will never be able to thank you enough for supporting me and my kiddos. They were able to act out problems such as what is the absolute value of -3. They counted steps from -3 to 0. This also helped with understanding that absolute value can never be a negative number. We always move a distance and walking a negative distance isn't possible so this helped reinstate that concept. \r\n\r\nWe will continue to use the tape when we learn about coordinate planes. That won't be until after Christmas. I will use it to make a huge coordinate plane on the floor and they will physically walk it to plot themselves with the ordered pair they are given.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for you donation and caring about my kids and their education. So far I have found a game for each of the new concepts I have taught. We were able to start using these tools right away! The most used so far has been our pockets for our chairs. The students love the color that it adds and the extra space to put their things! They are able to be more organized now and have a safe space to put their chromebooks besides the inside of their desk. \r\n\r\nThe kick bands have been a great tools as well with the addition of movement for my students when they are needing to get some wiggles out. They are learning when it is appropriate to use this tool and when it is not. This allows them critical thinking skills of how their actions can affect others (noisy kicks disrupt learning, quiet kicks benefit them and doesn't disturb their neighbors learning!)\r\n\r\nFinally, the exercise dice have given us a new fun brain break that gets them moving and their brains working! Students now independently use the plushes to communicate how they are feeling, which has reduced frustration, shutdowns, and misunderstandings. The tactile component helps younger or more reluctant students express themselves in a nonverbal way, making emotional check-ins more accessible for everyone.\r\nTogether, these tools have created a calmer and more predictable classroom environment. We review it every day and the colors just makes it more fun for them. \r\n\r\nAnother thing I have really enjoyed doing is making scavenger hunts for review. I can make each group a different color so my kids know quickly which cards they need to find. I also make their answer sheets the same color as their group and they love writing on them. Coming from a school where most students don't get the opportunities bigger schools might get, these kids are grateful anyone decided to give them a gift to make their day just a bit brighter. So far we have used them in our labs, and every student begs to wear the lab coat and goggles even if they are not necessary. \r\n\r\nWe used them on Halloween as well, because I created this enormous Gravity Falls project. We solved ten different puzzles to help me (dressed as a scientist) save the town. It has been the best activity so far and will be hard to beat. They wore the coats and goggles for this, as well.
