This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher, I see firsthand the impact hunger has on my students' ability to focus and learn. Many of my students arrive at school hungry and are often still hungry by the end of the day. This is not only distracting, but it can also affect their mood, energy, and ability to fully engage in classroom activities.
To ensure that every student is nourished and ready to learn, I am requesting funding for a variety of snacks and food items that will help fuel their bodies and minds.
These snacks will be used in multiple ways throughout the school day, including providing a morning snack to help students start the day off right, a mid-day snack for an energy boost, and after-school snacks to ensure they have something to carry them through the evening.
Many of my students arrive at school before breakfast and may not have had anything to eat at home. A quick, healthy snack will provide the fuel they need to focus on learning.
By lunchtime, some students are still hungry and may not have eaten enough. A snack will help bridge the gap until they have access to their lunch.
Proper nutrition plays a critical role in a child’s cognitive development and overall well-being. When students are hungry, it’s difficult for them to concentrate, engage in activities, or participate in class discussions. Providing these snacks will:
