My Project

Welcome to my vibrant 5th-grade ELA classroom,

where my students read deeply, write creatively, and tackle big challenges every day!

My school is a school-wide Title I community where the vast majority of my students come from low-income households. Despite facing socioeconomic hardships, my students come to school eager to learn, grow, and succeed. Fifth grade is a critical transition year where they dive into complex texts and build stamina for high-stakes standardized testing.

To help them reach their highest potential, I want to transform my classroom into an equitable space that supports both their minds and their bodies. I am requesting a variety of healthy snacks, items for a creative test-day water station, and sensory fidget tools. Living in low-income households often means limited access to consistent, nutritious snacks outside of school meals. During long reading blocks and high-stakes test days, hunger and anxiety are major roadblocks to learning. Healthy snacks will ensure that none of my students are trying to analyze a story on an empty stomach. On assessment days, I want to flip the script on testing anxiety and make learning fun by setting up a "Creative Hydration Station" with fruit-infused water and fun cups, turning a stressful day into a celebrated milestone. Finally, the fidget tools will serve a dual purpose: they will act as exciting rewards for meeting reading goals and provide essential sensory support to help my students channel their energy, stay focused, and build reading stamina at their desks.

Your generous donation will directly provide the comfort, motivation, and equity tools my students need to feel supported, confident, and excited to succeed in ELA!
