The students that I have been blessed to teach are very eager to learn, develop and grow individually as students, life long learners and citizens. I am able to work with students every day from different backgrounds who are interested in going into the fields of Informational Technology, Health Sciences and Engineering. Within my class we explore the relationships between Math and college and career fields.
These students are motivated to learn more and make connections to the real world and what their next steps will be.
We work together to fuel their passion for learning and exploring through their academic journey.
With the tablets students will be able to research their career choice and the dept in which the math that they are learning is used in that career. This research can give students an opportunity to complete a self evaluation of their success in their math course as well. This self evaluation will help students develop a plan of success in reaching their career goal.
Students will also be able to utilize apps to show their understanding of math concepts.
Apps such as book creator will be used to allow students to create an interactive online book that shows their understanding of the link between the math that they are learning to the career in which they want. Animoto is an app in which students can use their creativity to show their understanding of the math concepts being used in the classroom either collaboratively or individually through animation.
The use of technology grasp students attention and opens up many opportunities for students to take the math that they are learning in the classroom and link it to real world applications.
