Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are amazing, curious learners who are showing so many signs that they are ready to begin their reading journey. I teach in a Special Day Class for students with Autism at a Title I school, where access to engaging, high-quality resources makes a tremendous difference. My students love exploring letters, whether it’s using magnet letters to build words, writing the alphabet, or proudly spelling their own names. They are eager to practice new skills every day and are motivated by hands-on activities that make learning meaningful.

Many of my students are also second language learners who benefit from visual, tactile, and interactive resources to support their language development alongside literacy.

As a first-year teacher, I want to give my students the strongest foundation possible by providing them with multisensory tools and structured reading materials. These resources such as Lakeshore Touch & Read Phonics Word Match, Lakeshore Word Family Flip Books - Phonics Reading Games for Beginning Readers, and Didax Special Needs Fine Uppercase Tactile Sandpaper Letters, will not only strengthen their phonics, decoding, and vocabulary skills but also spark confidence, joy, and independence in learning skills that will support them in every subject and beyond the classroom.
