Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.

Many of them are being raised in single-parent households. Every child in our school receives free breakfast, free lunch, ​and a snack before they go home.

From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on my students' potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experiences during the school day.

My Project

We would love a green house but that is just not possible right now. We could really use a shelf so we could hang our grow lights on the bottom of each shelf and place our seedling on the shelves. Right now I use a table and it just takes a lot of space.

A shelf will give us numerous space for the seedlings.

We also need some markers for our dry erase boards. The children truely enjoy drawing and working on their board, but, the markers and eraser need to be replaced.
