From Seed to Plant

Help me give my students a hands-on learning experience with growing their own plants with magnifiers, seeds, books and more!

My Project

For our plant unit, I want my students to be able to see what happens to a seed as it grows. The hands-on learning that this project will provide will help students to understand the life cycle of a seed to a plant.

As students observe the different stages of the seed, they will be able to identify the different parts of the plant.

Using the various books will help support their learning and curiosities will be answered through the growing of the seed as well as from the literature provided. Students can investigate further by using the magnifying glasses to observe each part of the plant.

I want to encourage my students to step out of their "student shoes" and wear their "scientist shoes." I want my students to be excited about learning, and to acknowledge the importance of plants in our lives. This may be the first step for my students to appreciate nature and the importance of plants as living things.

As students delve into this unit, students will learn the life cycle of a seed, what seeds need to grow, as well as how seeds travel. These are the main ideas I want my students to learn through this plant project.
