From Play Kitchen to STEM Discovery Lab

Help me give my students items for a STEM discovery lab to conduct investigations, solve engineering challenges, and engage in explorative play.

My Project

I already have a children's play kitchen, but I want to completely transform it into a STEM Discovery Lab. Instead of pretend cooking, students will use these resources to be engaged in explorative play.

Each month, the center will change to match what we are learning in class.

During our magnet unit, students will investigate which materials attract magnets. During our plant unit, they will examine seeds and life cycles. Throughout the year, they will practice counting, patterning, measuring, letter recognition, beginning sounds, and scientific observation.

The Discovery Lab will become a consistent part of our morning routine, helping students transition into the classroom while building independence, confidence, and curiosity.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
