There are twenty-five diverse learners in our classroom. Almost half of our elementary school receives free lunch, so we have many students in our classroom that are from a low income home. We also have many students who face a language barrier or have learning difficulties.
Despite varying backgrounds and ability levels, the students of our room are a tight knit family of dedicated, hard working fifth graders.
They enjoy working together on research-based projects, and reading books together as a class. This school year we read Wonder and Twerp!
My Project
We worked so hard this school year writing detailed five-paragraph essays and annotating text, that we wore out our pencil sharpener! We would like to replace the pencil sharpener so the students in fifth grade next year will be able to work just as hard. We would also like to replenish the supplies that we used this year, like the cleaning items, pencils, snacks and candy. The students next year will need Lysol and Clorox wipes to disinfect hard surfaces when flu season hits them like it hit us.
We know that some of the students next year may come to school hungry, so we want them to have snacks here at school.
The candy is a nice treat for when students deserve a reward for hard work or stellar behavior. The lockable storage cabinet will be such a great way to store the most valuable assessments, essays, and other examples of hard work.
