My Project

I believe second grade is the best grade to teach. At this stage, students are becoming more independent emotionally, socially, and intellectually. They can draw on prior knowledge and expand their understanding.

This year, I hope to provide each student with access to Storyworks Magazine, an award-winning resource filled with captivating fiction, nonfiction, writing activities, and vocabulary lessons that align with our state reading and writing standards.

I would also love to bring Studies Weekly into our classroom. This interactive publication integrates reading, social studies, science, technology, math, poetry, and current events, allowing students to make meaningful connections between what they learn in school and what is happening in the world today. It aligns with grade level standards while helping students become informed, thoughtful citizens.

Elementary students learn best when they can hold a book or magazine in their hands, highlight important information, discuss ideas with classmates, and engage in meaningful conversations. These print resources provide an enriching alternative to additional screen time and encourage students to become active readers, writers, thinkers, and problem-solvers.

Our school year begins July 20, and we hope to begin using these subscriptions by August 15. Receiving these materials early in the school year will allow students to benefit from them from the very beginning as we build strong reading habits and a love for learning.

Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to opening new worlds through reading. Thank you for believing in my students and investing in their future.
