My Project

As a fourth-grade math teacher, I look forward to welcoming a new group of students who will arrive with different strengths, experiences, and learning styles. My goal is to create a classroom where all students can develop confidence in mathematics and build a deep understanding of the concepts they are learning. Many mathematical ideas can feel abstract, so it is important to provide opportunities for students to explore, model, and make sense of concepts in meaningful ways. These hands-on resources will help create engaging learning experiences that meet students where they are and support their growth throughout the year.

When students can see and touch mathematical concepts, abstract ideas become meaningful and accessible.

Fourth grade introduces many concepts that require students to think at deeper levels and make connections between numbers, measurement, fractions, geometry, and problem solving. Hands-on manipulatives allow students to explore mathematical ideas in a way that makes sense to them before moving to drawings, models, and abstract calculations. By engaging students in the Concrete-Representational-Abstract approach, these resources will help build conceptual understanding, strengthen mathematical reasoning, and encourage students to develop their own problem-solving strategies. As students explore manipulatives, they will discover multiple ways to approach a problem, justify their thinking, and build the confidence to tackle mathematical challenges with flexibility and creativity.

The purpose of this project is to provide students with the tools they need to develop a strong mathematical foundation. My mission is to make hands-on learning a regular part of the classroom experience. By equipping students with resources that encourage exploration, critical thinking, and perseverance, this project will help transform mathematics from something students simply do into something they truly understand.
