My Students
My students come to school eager to learn together. They come from many different backgrounds and cultures and bring with them a vast array of experiences and strengths.
The words we live by in our diverse, urban second grade classroom are, “The harder you work, the smarter you get!" Everyday you will see us setting goals and pursuing our hopes and dreams with focus. Thanks for supporting the hard work of my 24 bright and bold learners!
At our K-8 performing arts magnet, more than half of our students are English language learners. We work hard every day to provide rigorous culturally relevant instruction that inspires achievement in and through the arts.
My Project
It seems that no matter how many great books we have in our classroom library, we never have enough at the emergent level. Your donation will add rich nonfiction texts at the earliest reading levels so that my most struggling readers can have new engaging titles in their book bins every week.
Help my emergent readers take off and fly! Research shows that emergent readers grow the most when they are reading books with 95-98% accuracy. For my beginning readers this means that they could read ten books or more during their independent reading time.. each day! And they are!
My bright bold learners will benefit from having quality nonfiction texts at their level. Please consider funding our classroom library. As Dr. Seuss said, and I like to repeat, “You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.”
