Frogs

My students need preserved frogs and supplies for dissection to complete required science frameworks for the school year.

My Students

Ewww, What is that? We want our students to be inquisitive and discover new and exciting things in the classroom. Frog dissection allows this plus gives me the opportunity to fulfill my requirements on comparative anatomy in vertebrates in a hands-on environment.

My seventh grade students are energetic, social and eager to learn.

When meeting them for the first time they want to know,"When do we get to dissect?" We have 5th, 6th and 7th graders in our Middle School in Central Arkansas. We have been able to incorporate dissection at lower levels but maintaining frog dissection in seventh grade. With increasing class size and such diverse learners dissection allows every student a wonderful experience.

My Project

Having frog dissection available for my student's will allow for an engaging and comparative view of body structures in vertebrates. Instead of looking at diagrams or pictures students actually see the structure, its location in the body, and how it interacts within the body. A great example of this is the large and small intestine. We talk about the differences but most think length is the difference when in fact it's diameter. For a student to see the difference, be able to investigate the difference and then be reinforced through question and answer each student comes away with a better understanding of body functions in vertebrates.

We are always looking for new and exciting ways to reach our students.

Frog dissection gives students what they want from school. It's cool. Being able to actually investigate and ask questions that seem to automatically flood their brains: IS COOL!! Frog dissection helps break those barriers that sometimes hold students back in the classroom.
