My students need an opportunity to have their first dissection experience before they get to Biology in high school. Dissecting frogs with the proper materials is a classic life science activity that students will always remember!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very motivated and reflective. All of them come with various personalities. They make teaching every day so fun! Something that allows me to connect with my students is their curiosity, paired with my love for science.
We have so many interesting conversations that really foster an environment of openness and learning, which allows for the building of deeper critical thinking skills!
These relationships, skill building discussions, and hands-on activities are the foundation for next-level learning for my kiddos!
My Project
Having a dissection experience is an integral part of biological learning. I am choosing to dissect frogs as a traditional way of having students explore the structure and function of organisms within their ecosystem.
Students will need a safe way to perform this dissection, so it is very important that each student has the proper supplies in order to maintain a safe environment in the classroom, while also academically benefiting from the complexity of such an intricate experiment.
Hands-on learning in science is key in order to develop proper understanding of the foundational concepts that are learned throughout the year. It is a fun and impactful way to develop deeper knowledge of life on earth.
