Frog Dissection and Science Supplies

My students need need 45 preserved frogs to participate in a dissection, 2 genetics kits, and 2 K'nex Forces, Motion, and Energy kits.

My Students

Support the careers of future surgeons and scientists! My students are fascinated with our units on anatomy, genetics, and forces and motion. The students would love the opportunity to enrich their studies by completing collaborative projects at the end of each unit.

One of the most wonderful parts of our community is the wide diversity of learners our school serves.

Our student population is comprised of a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds and we have a great diversity in learning styles and academic readiness. The students at my school are energetic, outgoing, and bring a joyful attitude to the learning environment. Every day I learn something new from them and it truly is a pleasure working with these adolescents. Many of the students live in poverty and do not have access to learning materials at home. The students look forward to the dissection and it is one of the most exciting events of the year. Our team would also like to provide the opportunity for students to engage in a quarter-long genetics project and forces and motion project as well.

My Project

Students need every opportunity to participate in authentic, hands-on learning, particularly those living in poverty that may not have the chance to encounter these kinds of activities outside of school. These inquiry-based activities will give the students a chance to experience life science first hand by working collaboratively to learn about anatomy as well as genetics. This dissection of the frogs will serve as the culminating activity for their unit on the human body, and we will utilize the genetics and forces, motion, and energy kits in the next two quarters.

We need forty-five frogs, 2 genetics kits, and 2 K'nex Forces and Motion kits to complete this activity with students collaborating in groups of four.

This is a truly wonderful group of students that would benefit greatly by this opportunity. Your help would be greatly appreciated!
