Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Starting middle school is a big transition, and for many of our 6th graders, it comes with new experiences, new emotions, and new challenges. As a school counselor, I want to create a warm, welcoming, and supportive counseling space where students feel safe to talk, reflect, learn coping skills, and simply take a moment to reset when they need it.

This project will help refresh our counseling office with materials that make the space more inviting, engaging, and functional for our students.

Items such as counseling resource games, fidget tools, art supplies, and flexible seating will allow me to provide a variety of age-appropriate resources and activities for individual and small-group counseling. The project also has office items such as calendars, laminating pouches, and a shredder which will support the documentation aspect of my comprehensive school counseling program.

These materials will support students as they develop social-emotional skills, navigate friendships and school transitions, manage big feelings, build confidence, and learn healthy ways to cope with stress. Flexible seating and sensory tools can help students feel more comfortable, while games and creative materials will make counseling activities engaging and accessible.

Your support will help transform our 6th grade counseling office into more than just an office—it will become a safe space where 6th graders can pause, feel heard, build skills, and grow. By investing in this space, you are helping our students begin their middle school journey feeling supported, valued, and ready to thrive.
