This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The kids in my classroom are amazing, silly, messy, and wonderful. They love to explore, ask questions, and take risks. They are eager to learn about the world around them. Sometimes the world can be a tricky place for the kids in our room. My goal as their teacher is to help them learn and grow into the best versions of themselves. I want them to be proud of who they are and what they can do in this world!
My classroom is home to our township's Functional Academics Program.
The FA program is built for kids who are socially, academically, and functionally well below their peers. Everyday tasks can be challenging for these kiddos. You'd never know it by their determination, zest for life, and willingness to explore.
My Project
The kids in our room are gloriously curious, silly, fun, and messy. Just the way I'd want them to be. They love to learn and grow in new and exciting ways.
The best way to start your school day is with a fresh face, sparkly clean teeth, clean undies, and germ-free hands.
For a number of reasons (busy mornings, lack of family funds, and sometimes lack of adult supervision), many of the kids in our room come to school needing hygiene help. We often start the day washing faces, brushing teeth, wiping backsides, and providing clean undies and socks. Everyone gets to feel clean and ready to start the day.
By providing deodorant, travel toothbrush kits, and face wipes, each child will learn the morning hygiene procedures that will carry them through childhood and into adulthood. Having a full belly, clean socks, and clean undies makes for a confident learner.
