My students are creative, thoughtful, and highly motivated to learn! Many of them love reading and are risk takers in Spanish class. They come from very diverse backgrounds with a large portion of them learning Spanish as their third or even fourth language.
My goal is to have a classroom library that allows them to have access to a wide range of books in Spanish that will not only spark their interest but also help support their Spanish skills.
The free voluntary reading books will be left in the classroom so students have access to to a wide variety of books. Along with more books for the FVR library I am looking for materials to help build my classroom to be better for Comprehensible Input. The materials such as an easel and word chart/chart paper will be used during our story telling time in class!

I specifically chose books that are age appropriate while also having Spanish that is easy enough for them to understand.
Many of the books are written by foreign language teachers and use specific high frequency verbs and vocabulary! According to The American Council on Teaching Foreign Languages reading is one of the best ways to improve students spelling as well as easily increase vocabulary. It also provides an easy way for me to differentiate in order to challenge all of my students in class.
Finally the chart paper/markers will be put to use while student artist bring to life stories and characters we create together as a class. All of these materials will help my students take ownership of their own learning as well as create a motivating and encouraging classroom environment.
