This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am fortunate enough to teach really amazing kids. They are kind, hard working, and truly enjoy learning. The students and I have created a community of learners by getting to know each other through writing and math activities. The students value the diversity in our classroom. My students also understand the power of hard work and a positive growth mindset.

Learning is a lifelong skill.

My students are curious about the world around them. They ask good questions, set a path for knowledge, and then engage in collaborative learning with peers. They are eager to become civic minded leaders who engage in the community around them.

My Project

All our teachers offer free after-school tutoring to our students who need a little extra time and support in mathematics and reading. The teachers are in need of materials that are engaging and unique to the program. After teaching all day, it can be hard to keep the students and teachers awake and engaged in the lessons.

Our free after-school tutoring program services students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.

The students are able to receive small group attention and reteaching. The teachers put a lot and thought and effort into planning meaningful and effective lessons. New and fresh materials would help to bring new life into their lessons. The materials in this project will help students practice reading and math skills. They will be able to read nonfiction texts while reducing paper waste. They will also be able to practice math skills with hands-on manipulatives and colorful copies.
