My Project

A week before school began this year, I was switched to third grade. Some classroom items can be used for third grade, but a lot of things can not! For one, play time toys for kindergarteners are sometimes too young for my eight and nine year old third graders! We call our play 'flex time' and they look forward to it all week long. While they have enjoyed dominoes and magna tiles, they want more complex toys to play with. They have requested these marble run items and the calico critters--they just love setting up little families and items!

Secondly, we need fraction tools for hands-on fraction fun!

Our school is diverse and having these hands-on tools will really help my multi-lingual students with practice and understanding of fractions. The more vibrant visuals we have, the more engaging these fraction lessons will become. Introducing and starting to use fractions is a big part of our math year and important for state-wide testing!
