My students need a wide variety of supplies including reading and math games, puzzles, and other materials to get our school year going in the right direction!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I wish my students could be afforded the same privileges that other kids their age have. Due to severe budget cuts, they will start our new school year with not enough. That is not how it is supposed to be!
My students are a lively bunch of fourth graders.
They attend an inner-city school in an impoverished neighborhood in Pennsylvania. This year our class total number of students will exceed 30. My students absolutely deserve everything their suburban counterparts get from their own neighborhood schools. We work hard every single day and need a variety of specific supplies to keep our classroom moving!
My Project
When I was growing up I read every single night before bed- in fact, I still do! I hope to inspire my students in the same way that my former teachers always inspired me. One of the resources I am requesting is a collection of high-interest level non fiction books. I believe this resource will assist in giving my students exposure to a whole world they don't know anything about. In addition to the non fiction reading materials I have also requested general supplies for the classroom including basic pencils, dry erase markers, mini pencil sharpeners, folders, and stickers! My students are still only 9 and 10 years old and love scratch and sniff stickers. I try to incorporate fun as much as I can and these stickers, although very small, serve as a highly effective incentive!
This project is so very important to me because I truly believe my students deserve the same privileges other kids their age get.
Due to harsh and unfair budget cuts, my classroom will not be given ample materials. These budget cuts are only serving to punish my innocent students who unfortunately don't have a strong enough voice to stand up for themselves. Please help us to achieve success this school year!
