This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students face unbelievable challenges daily, poverty, homelessness, hunger, and medical issues to name a few. When a child faces challenges such as poverty, it can be difficult to maintain academic performance. Any person faced with these challenges would struggle but my kids come to school excited and ready to learn everyday. The students in my classroom are some of the brightest, most kind, most resilient kids I have had the pleasure of knowing.

My students come to school everyday ready to learn something new, and are excited when they master a new standard.

These kids have built a community in our classroom that is akin to spending time with family. They take care of each other and are genuinely concerned about how each person in our room is feeling everyday. I am so grateful I have had the opportunity to teach them this year. I learn immeasurably more from them daily than I could ever hope to teach them.

My Project

Many of my students do not have access to books at home. We are able to attend our library but even that is limited in supply. These books will give my students access to chapter books they are interested so they can read in our classroom and be able to borrow books to read at home.

By donating to these books you will help my students travel to different worlds and times from the comfort of their own homes and our classroom.

Developing a love of reading at a young age is imperative to bringing up long term readers. My students love to read and will be so excited to have access to more books.
