Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a barrier-free, Title I school that is home to over 1500 students, with over 70 languages spoken. It is a warm and inviting school with an active and dedicated parent body. It is a wonderful place to learn for both our wonderful students and our dedicated staff! My students are lively, kind-hearted, resilient, and are always ready and willing to learn. They put a smile on my face each and every day, and I cannot imagine my life without them. This is the only career I was meant to have!

My class is very culturally diverse, and most of my children struggle in all academic areas.

That being said, they are a determined group, but they need to know how to read in order to understand and excel in every other academic subject area. My children are in need of high quality just right literature to foster their love of reading.

I am in awe of their determination, and I would do anything to ensure that all of my children develop into the stars that they are meant to be!

My Project

These books will help me foster a love of reading in my darling children by enabling them to engage in rich discussions during book clubs. Also, the series books will allow my struggling readers to notice patterns within books and the decodable readers will show them what it feels like to become star readers. My goal this year, actually every year, is to have my students obtain the reading skills needed to succeed in life so the professional books will enable me to continue to find innovative strategies and ideas to help them succeed in their life-long reading journey. These books will afford me the opportunity to truly make a difference.
