This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom is an Affective Needs classroom comprised of students who have social/emotional disabilities. We desire to create a coffee bar as a way to learn life skills through managing a school-wide business.

Our coffee cart will provide opportunities for my students to socially interact with school staff and to feel that they are doing something that makes a difference in our school community.

They will be able to learn skills such as planning, organizing, stocking, creating a menu, advertising, taking orders, customer service, accounting, and money management.

Most importantly, it will support them in improving their self esteem by fostering positive social interactions and relationships with others. A coffee cart will also be a fun, memorable experience!
