Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 15 students are in a bilingual special education class.

My students ages range from 9-12 years of age.

Our school is located in a low socioeconomic area. More than 95% of our students are eligible for a free or reduced price lunch. My students with special needs have to learn their grade level curriculum and a new language.

My Project

My students will use the force and motion activity labs to explore this concept of science. Exploring this concept in groups allows them to brainstorm and to test one another's ideas. They gain a better understanding with each trial, whether or not it is successful.

My students do not have enough hands-on activities.

As my students are learning a new language, learning using real objects helps them understand and make connections with language that they would not have otherwise. The process of learning through doing will allow this to be one concept they will never forget.
