My students need mentor texts for Social Studies that will help aid in learning about our American history and government.

My class of fourth grade students are some of the most special students that I have ever had the pleasure to have in my life. This class is full of energy, always walking into my classroom happy and ready to learn.
Many of my students come from difficult home lives.
There are students that live with grandparents, one parent, aunts or uncles, and even foster parents. Most families receive free lunch and textbooks. We have created a classroom where the students feel safe and in return, they are very determined to succeed. We talk every day about what we can do to be a great person. Every student believes they can be the best.
I am very excited that next year I will be teaching two subjects. They are Reading and Social Studies. These two subjects go great together and it will really help student achievement if I have a complete classroom library of social studies books. The books that I am asking for are contained in the Social Studies Literature Libraries for grades 4 and 5.
These books will go along with the lessons that I will be teaching about our country.
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. Right now, we do not have an abundance of mentor texts that focus on US History and Government.
