This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fun, curious, and enthusiastic fifth graders are from a small rural town in northern California. Each school day they show up ready to learn and explore! They are eager to learn about the world around them, and they bring an inspirational growth mindset when they walk into the classroom.

Every day is filled with academic, social, and personal growth for these kids.

They show up with a high-five and smile ready to take on the day. They are hardworking, kind, and a joy to teach!

My Project

This project will provide my students with the gift of a literary novel to read and learn from. After extensive research, I chose a novel that would allow students to embark on a journey that explored similarities of their own, as well as their peers. This novel is about two boys who help each other grow as they go on journeys and quests. Each boy has their own disability, but their disabilities are what makes each character special and unique. I think that studying this novel will allow for incredible opportunities for students. Students will have the opportunity to learn about others, have empathy and grow socially.
