Help me give my students hands-on literacy activities that they can use to enhance their learning in reading and writing. The Hot Dots materials will give them confidence in their reading abilities. They also need Wikki Stix, Unifix cubes, and other items.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Avid readers, curious, life long learners, creative and strong are my amazing, twenty-four kindergartners!

More than three quarters of students at our school come from low-income households.

Our school's population is primarily Hispanic. I have the great honor of working in a preschool which houses three K-3 classrooms, six K-4 and six K-5 classrooms.

Despite economic status and language barriers, my students come to school each day ready to learn and work hard. My students understand the high academic expectations expected of them. Without fail, they continually show me by their reading and writing achievement. Their success makes me an extremely proud teacher. I can't wait to see what my "littles" do in the future!

My Project

My students love to learn using their hands! They love to put together letters to make words and the unifix letter cubes and cards will help them do this.

When students are able to physically move letters around, it helps them remember letter/sounds patterns more efficiently.

The Alphabet Acorn Activity Set will be used to do this. As will the Wikki Stix Alphabet Cards and Stix. These will also help the students learn the correct letter formation.

Students also love technology and they will be able to incorporate technology with the use of the Hot Dot materials.

All of these materials will be able to be used individually or with a partner.
