This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students in my classroom are bilingual. We started our connection during Kindergarten with transitioning activities. They are curious learners that are fun, happy, eager to learn how to read and solve math problems. I would love to provide the learning tools that will support their remote learning. Having the tools will help exhilarate their learning during theses unprecedented times. With these math manipulatives and writing tools, will support my native Spanish students and non native students to acquire the skills they need to be proficient in both Spanish and English and also problem solvers.
Having access to these different tools will give them the opportunity they need to reach this goal.
Understanding the challenges that they are living during their learning and providing the resources they need, I can help support their learning in this ever changing world.
My Project
This project will support our burgeoning mathematicians with visual aids and hands-on manipulatives for use in everyday lessons and special projects. After a year of online learning at home, these manipulatives will jump start students' love of math in the classroom. Visual aids like hundred charts and number lines will build students' numeracy while hands-on manipulatives like counting cubes, 3D shapes, and "Big Time" clocks will allow them to connect their world to mathematical concepts. These materials will ensure all students have the resources to access the math curriculum each day.
