My Students

We are an integrated collaborative teaching (ICT) first-grade class, with a mixture of general and special education students at a large high-needs, Title I school in the Bronx. Although the majority of students come from low-income homes or from homes with limited parental involvement, they are enthusiastic and come to school every day ready to learn. These children see school as a consistent part of their daily lives and strive daily to make me proud.

My 24 first graders are some of the happiest children I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

They inspire me to provide the best education I can for them.

My Project

We would love to have the experience of taking a class trip to the National Museum of Mathematics! This experience includes one private educator-led, hands-on session in a classroom and up to 90 minutes of free exploration on the exhibit floor. Our students will explore amazing exhibits, take part in exciting activities, and have an experience they’ll never forget. My inclusion class would tremendously benefit from the experience of seeing real life applications of not just math, but also STEM, in a fun, engaging way!

Based on past experiences, many of our students are not granted permission to attend trips that require an admissions fee (even at a lower or reduced cost) due to lack of affordability by family.

Yet students are still sent to school because the parents need their child to be looked after during their working hours. It is very disheartening to see any student have to remain behind while the rest of his/her class is off on an adventure. We are working hard to ensure that all of our students have equal access to the same opportunities and materials and that no one is left out, and appreciate any support in this endeavor.
