My Project

Your donations will help provide students with a welcoming and comfortable classroom that reflects their interests and supports a lifelong love of foreign language learning.

The first step to getting through to a child is to make that child feel safe.

I’ve requested furniture, organizational tools, and snacks first and foremost, so that when entering my classroom students first feel their most basic needs are being met. A consistent, comfortable, and organized space makes students feel at ease. Only then can students settle into your space and open their hearts and their minds to you.

Books provide a wonderful way to spark a students interest in learning a foreign language. I’ve requested both classic books in Spanish as well as books that center social justice and lived experiences of marginalized people. It is my hope that access to these texts not only make my students feel represented and seen, but make them interested in learning how to discuss these topics in their new language.

Having a variety of educational tools available shows students that you value more than just traditional methods of teaching, and that you see them and their skills holistically. I hope that my students having access to more games and various activities will help them feel more comfortable engaging with a new and unfamiliar language.
