My Project

I love that despite my students coming from lower-income backgrounds, they come to school eager to learn. My students are also a joy for me because I learn so much from them. One cool characteristic about my students is that they are a diverse population, so we have many in-depth opportunities to discuss and educate each other on different cultures and holidays within ELA and Social Studies lessons. I believe in good humor and corny jokes, so we laugh often in my class.

My students have gained a love for Garfield books, so having a variety of these will help to foster a community of endless laughter and literacy!

I also love that my students enjoy reading about a childhood classic that I grew up with. My students are eager to put their computers away and ask to read these books. As an educator, I have no complaints about that!

I requested multiple copies of some books to surprise all of my students with a Garfield book to keep and take home! Louisiana summers are miserably hot and humid, so this will be a meaningful end of the year gift to encourage indoor literacy over their summer break.
