Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are bright, creative, and enthusiastic. They are also full of curiosity and compassion. The majority of them face trauma and socio-economic struggles. However, nothing stops them from coming to school ready to learn and shine everyday. Each day, I learn so much from them and they are my inspiration.
My class is also bilingual and my students love learning about other cultures, traditions, and ways of living.
My students are also active and full of creativity. They enjoy experiencing with paint and play dough. Giving the fact that students learn better and more when they are engaged, in the classroom, I use art projects as a way of learning. I believe students need to have fun, to explore, and to be motivated to learn and to excel both academically and personally.
My Project
Art and movement are part of life. We are all artists in some way if we have the opportunity to explore our creativity. As a teacher, I want to offer my students basic and essential materials that allow them to create and imagine while learning.
Allowing children to move and to create is fundamental in education.
It is proven that children learn more and better when they are free to move, to explore, and to let their imagination fly. If children are deprived of this privilege, their learning will not be the same.
My classroom is full of students with diverse needs; some students need to constantly move in order to feel comfortable and safe. Therefore, the bouncy bands will help them stay focused in order to learn better. Equally important, the play dough, the Earth globe, and the whiteboard erasers will help faciliate their learning by providing hands-on experiences.
