This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am fortunate enough to teach really amazing kids. They are kind, hard working, and truly enjoy learning. The students and I have created a community of learners by getting to know each other through writing and math activities. The students value the diversity in our classroom. My students also understand the power of hard work and a positive growth mindset.
Learning is a lifelong skill.
My students are curious about the world around them. They ask good questions, set a path for knowledge, and then engage in collaborative learning with peers.
My Project
My students love to read. They love to read adventures, fantasy, mysteries, nonfiction, poems, realistic fiction, and science fiction. Above all, they enjoy reading graphic novels. When I asked them why, they mention the witty jokes, the illustrations, the engaging stories, and the quick pace.
Graphic novels are so popular in our classroom that the students have created wait lists for books.
The novels with the series are great because they keep the students engaged for longer periods of time. The students become attached to the characters and enjoy following their adventures. It also helps the students learn about character development and how characters change over time.
