Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our local youth kids do not have enough resources to have a complete football uniform. We are always looking for ways to help them fundraise for shirts, socks and cleats. If we could get some practice jerseys for them it would help their program free up resources to allow more kids to play

Our students come from a low socio-economic area.

We have over 90% on free and reduced lunch and many struggle with just their family and personal needs. Many of them enjoy playing sports, but have difficulty fundraising for each sport. We try and provide some support but with the current budget issues we have trouble ourselves funding our athletic programs. My high school football players approached me about helping out our local youth teams by getting them some practice jerseys. Many of my players help coach the local youth teams because there are never enough adult coaches to help. My players put in countless hours coaching and mentoring these youth teams and would like to help their teams out with some new practice jerseys. I have coordinated some other projects with socks and mouthpieces to insure as many youth players are assisted with equipment. We are requesting assistance from ABC Family to get this project going.

My Project

We are requesting 45 Nike Football Practice Jerseys. This is enough for one youth football team. All of our programs fund raise as much as they can by selling cookie dough, discount cards and t-shirts. With the budget issues it has become more difficult to get funds for athletic equipment. Our team would like to give back to the you teams by getting them some practice jerseys and helping our community out. Our players remember what it was like to play at the youth level and the lesson learned about teamwork, dedication and respect. Our players enjoy being involved in community service. They learn about giving and not expecting things in return. Our players hold free annual clinics that many of the younger attend. Our players coach and mentor these young players and this year we would like to give them each their own practice jersey. They are asking ABC Family to help our project get funded, thank you.

This project is important to me because every dollar we are able to provide our youth with, is more they can use for other areas of importance such as academics, family and home needs.

Our players feel the need to give back to the community and volunteer coaching and mentoring youth teams. With this project we are helping them build a better foundation for their program and ease the need for paying money to play. The more youth we can reach the bigger impact on our community.
