My Project

I teach kindergarten at a Title I school with over 60% of the students receiving free or reduced lunch. Last year, we had 13 different languages spoken in the home represented. I am looking to update and replace the items used in our dramatic play/housekeeping centers. I am starting my 16th year on campus and the items we use now have here longer than myself and they are not in the best of shape.

With this project, I would like to replace and update the kitchen and food options for all the kindergarten students on campus.

We believe in free choice when it comes to playing at our center time. Of the many options available, these items would be shared between the housekeeping center or another dramatic play space each day. I chose many of the multicultural food options for 2 reasons. First, to represent the foods eaten by the different cultures on our campus, and second, to expose students to different culinary options they may not have known about previously.
