Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I'm a 2nd grade teacher at an elementary school that is located in a diverse, low-income neighborhood. Our students are exposed to gangs and violence.
Despite some of our students' challenging situations, they thrive at school.
Our school is a safe haven for students. Our school consists of caring teachers, staff, and administrators who always go above and beyond. We try our best to get the parents and the community involved to make our school and neighborhood a better place.
My Project
Mrs. Gomez will be making positive community connections with students and their families in need. This home outreach project will help many families be fed during the holidays. We have many students that don't have enough food during Winter Break, 21 days away from school.
Many of our students rely on our school breakfast and lunch as their main food source for the day.
We would like to have this project funded by December 10, 2018. We will be giving basic food items such as potatoes, rice, corn, string beans, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, and fruit snacks. Please help keep our students fed.
