Our students are at a Title I School. We are situated in a neighborhood that has a diverse group of people, but sometimes don't tolerate each other's differences. Our neighborhood is plagued with gang activity and drugs, often resulting in violence. Because of this, our students sometimes are not as open-minded to each other's cultural differences. This kit will help teach various lessons addressing positive interactions with each other. My goal is to bridge our students' attitudes toward each other. I want them to see we are more alike than different. But at the same time celebrate our differences. At the end of the unit, we will have a multicultural celebration to celebrate what we have learned.
