Food for Thought for Future STEM Leaders

Help me give my students a classroom refrigerator to store snacks for after school Teen Science Cafe program. The freezer will also be used for certain labs.

My Project

Some of my students will be participating in a Teen Science Cafe (TSC) program that is designed to help teens become leaders and innovators in their community. During a teen science cafe session, teens socialize over teen-friendly food and drink, have a lively conversation with a local scientist and/or engineer about current cutting-edge developments in their fields, and participate in a hands-on activity related to the scientist and/engineer.

Students are hungry by the end of the day.

From experience, hungry students find it hard to focus. Unfortunately, there isn’t money to have food catered in. Also, some labs require ice baths, frozen liquids, or samples to be refrigerated.

This refrigerator will be used for the program to store drinks and snacks for the children. It can also come in handy when we are doing some of our labs during school that do not involve chemicals.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
