My Students

Our school is in a larger urban district on the border of Iowa and Nebraska. Even though we are a part of a larger school district, I love how there is a small-town feel here. We have a needy population with about 80% free or reduced-price lunch rate. We are an International Baccalaureate School.

Students come in excited to be at school and needing adult relationships.

My favorite part of the day is greeting students at the door in the morning. We always start the day with a fun activity, which opens up my time to build relationships with my students. Our school is starting a trauma-informed model. We strive to help our kids learn skills they are lacking, rather than punish their behavior. Our goal is to love all our kids and provide them a place where they feel safe and supported.

We have the best kids at our school and they deserve to have a fun, comfortable, loving classroom environment!

My Project

These snacks would help meet the needs of my students. We need to help meet many basic needs at our school.

Many kids are hungry, tired, and need loved.

We must meet these needs before learning can occur! Many kids that have a hard time are simply hungry. It is extremely difficult for kids to learn if they are distracted by how hungry they are. Teachers often feed their students out of their own pocket, and it gets very pricey and tough to supply to so many.

I would also love to have a basket of snacks that kids could get when they really need it. This will help supply our snack basket!
