Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The school that I teach at is located on the Southeast side of Chicago and is a Title I school. We have a total enrollment of 720 students in PreK-8th grades. 95% of our students are Hispanic and come from low income households.
Many students families lack the resources to fully meet all of the children's needs.
Attendance is very important and we want our students to feel good about themselves everyday they come to school! We know that when they are in school they are safe and learning. When they feel good about themselves they are focused on learning and reaching their goals!
My Project
Can you imagine being a student who cannot focus on his school work because he is focused on his hunger. There are times I have this occur on a daily basis in my class.
Hungry students struggle with learning.
I want to be able to feed my kids so they can focus. It is with grants like this and snacks like these that we will be able to stop this problem from happening on a daily basis. Hunger is such a basic need that I believe no child should ever have to struggle with it. Please consider helping me to help my students!
