Fonseca's Morning Motivators

My Students

I have a wonderful and very sweet group of first graders. My class is made up of 19 children that work hard every day to learn as much as they can.

They love to read, write and use their imaginations!

They are a very diverse group that learn in many different ways and have different educational needs. Many of my students have specific needs relating to sensory/visual support and ADD/ADHD support, alongside academic accommodations.

Our school is located in a small rural community with students from varying backgrounds.

My Project

When first graders come into the classroom in the morning, they are just waking up and getting their brains in gear. One way to help motivate them and get them ready for the day is for them to be hands-on with their morning activities.

As a teacher, you want hands-on activities to be beneficial and academically sound.

Morning Tubs, are a great way to get the students engaged and ready to learn. Each tub is a different challenge with different materials. The challenges change frequently. Students will work individually and in small groups.

Most of the materials needed for these activities are easy to find or make. Some on them cost a bit more money and are harder to find. The magnetic tiles are a great example of this. In order for this to work in the classroom, there also needs to be clear organization and materials need to be easily accessed by students. The cart will make this possible.
