Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are enjoying Spanish class and are very excited to learn about traditions and events celebrated in Spanish-speaking countries. Folklórico is a traditional style of dance and can be traced back to indigenous people living in Mexico. These beautiful Folklorico costumes will not only bring our Cinco de Mayo celebration to life but students will learn a Folklorico dance and about its history. Costumes are meant to complement the song and create uniformity amongst the dancers. They also are meant to help to tell the story of the dance.

Dance is a great activity for kids to practice important developmental skills and a wonderful way to teach kids how to follow instructions.

I teach dance to inform the school community about and connect people to, Latino culture.
