This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing, unique learners who are all different and special in their own ways. They all come with different stories, experiences and learning styles. Regardless of what their backgrounds or home lives may be, one thing is for certain, they love to come to school and learn. School is their safe place, their place where they feel part of a family and a place where their possibilities are endless.
My students face so many obstacles and uncertainties that having the right tools provides them with opportunities that they may never get outside of the classroom.
My students' love of learning and excitement when they come to school makes them so inspiring. Their outlook on the world and how they interact at school makes them so special and unique. I love and am proud to teach each and every one of my students.
My Project
We have 2 first grade classes which we combined into 1 big first grade. This way, there are always 2 teachers providing hands-on instruction and less interruptions occur because one of us is there to help. With having more students working at the same time, organization is key. Folders are the key to organized.
We have 45 students who are 1st graders that lack organization skills and with folders we can eliminate a lot of wasted time spent looking for their papers and spend more time learning.
We would have the purple folders for writing workshop, the yellow folder for math, the green folder for science. The pink folder would be for RTI. The other folder, orange, would be their take home folder. The highlighters are essential tools for finding words as we read, highlighting key concepts, writing out sentences for students who struggle to copy and so much more!
