This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low income/high poverty school district with students of many diverse abilities, my students are faced with several challenges in and out of my classroom. I look to make my classroom atmosphere a place where they feel safe and eager to learn through engaging social, emotional, and cognitive learning experiences.
My students are hard-working, witty, and very clever!
My class serves students with a wide range of disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, emotional/behavioral disturbance, intellectual disabilities, and specific learning disabilities. My students love to learn, but are lacking the resources necessary to help them focus and perform to their highest potential. I am hoping to help my students close the achievement gap and inspire them to always work to their highest potential!
My Project
In my classroom, our favorite time is reading time! I read a chapter book aloud to my students during language arts each day, and they enjoy looking at books during their break time; I love to see their love of reading!
My students need bean bags to ensure that they have a safe, personal space to sit and look or listen to a story.
Without the help of generous donors, bean bags for each of my students will not be possible. Your donation will help provide clear personal space boundaries, minimize time on behavior management, and maximize crucial instructional time!
