As a teacher in a low income/high poverty school district with students of many diverse abilities, my students are faced with several challenges in and out of my classroom. I look to make my classroom atmosphere a place where they feel safe and eager to learn through engaging social, emotional, and cognitive learning experiences. My students are hard-working, witty, and very clever! My class serves students with a wide range of disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, emotional/behavioral disturbance, intellectual disabilities, and specific learning disabilities. My students love to learn, but are lacking the resources necessary to help them focus and perform to their highest potential. I am hoping to help my students close the achievement gap and inspire them to always work to their highest potential!
