Imagine picking out a favorite book, sitting down to read it and it looks like it is written a foreign language.......this is the reality of my students!
I am working to bridge the achievement gap of our third graders.
While my students are very excited about learning and want to be successful, they need some extra support. Many of them are more than two grade levels behind in reading. By working in small groups, we are trying to "fill in" the gaps in phonics instruction in order to help them become better readers.
My students are sometimes very distracted by noise and what is happening around them. In order to help my students concentrate and focus better, this whiteboard stand will provide a barrier between two groups of students in a shared classroom. I will be able to provide a written model of the phonics skills being taught. The students enjoy being the "teacher"they will also use the board to practice newly learned phonics and writing skills. My partner teacher and I want our students to focus and always do their best while working in small groups. This will help to encourage them to focus on their teacher and have less distractions between the two groups of students working in the same room.
