The mission of my school is to develop a community of life-long learners who use inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to be socially responsible contributors to a changing global society. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment to meet the needs of all learners.
Throughout my day I work with students who have a variety of different learning needs within their classrooms as well as in my own room.
These students work very hard to live up to the mission of our school. If you were to visit our school you would see that it is filled with readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and researchers.
This will be the eighth annual Focus on Inclusion Conference held in Indianapolis. The IEP resource center brings in many different speakers, presenters, and perspectives on education as well as many different resources and books.
This conference will allow me to gain strategies to build my knowledge of what successful inclusion is and can become.
Co-Teaching, Specially Designed Instruction, and Responding to Escalating Behaviors are only a few of the topics that will be covered during the conference. Understanding these three topics to the fullest of their capacity is part of what makes Inclusion in the classroom work. This experience will allow me to implement and share the tools and strategies that I have learned with the school staff in my building.
