This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students use headphones daily in our classroom, especially during ELA centers. I try not to make many paper copies for Language Arts activities. Instead, I use interactive programs and websites like Kami, IXL, Nearpod, Reading A-Z, Epic, and EdPuzzle to engage my students in their independent work. This is especially useful for the English Language Learners and Special Education students in my classroom because I can assign activities on their level. As a result, they can work independently, aiming towards proficiency and mastery.

Since these programs require sound, it is beneficial for each student to have their own set of headphones to eliminate distractions and allow them to stay focused on their assignments.

I have noticed a difference when students can fully concentrate on a task and when they cannot. Moreover, in this technology-literate world, any interaction with updated technology will not only improve their literacy but also enhance their desire to learn and use new technology!
